Ukraine‘s President Zelenksy Vows年末 to Fight for Residents on Occupied Territories in New Year Message
In his New Year’s address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy has underscored his commitment to fighting for the residents of territories currently under Russian occupation. He delivered a message of resilience and unity to those living in temporary occupied zones, expressing his confidence in their enduring Ukrainian spirit.
"Despite the occupiers’ efforts, they cannot occupy Ukrainian hearts," Zelenksy asserted, using a metaphor that emphasized the indomitable Ukrainian spirit. He recounted a story about an elderly Ukrainian man who, when asked the time by occupying forces, famously replied, "It’s time for you to leave our land." This anecdote encapsulates the unyielding resolve of Ukrainians, Zelenksy noted.
The Ukrainian President expressed solidarity with all residents braving the harsh realities of occupation, mentioning specific cities like Crimea, Donetsk, Mелитополь (Melitopol), and Mariupol. He urged unity and hope, stating that the only thing that will ultimately divide Ukrainians is a generously laid-out feast, symbolizing the unity and abundance they can look forward to once the country is reunified.
Zelenksy also welcomed the prospect of those abroad, who still hold Ukraine close to their hearts, joining in this eventual celebration. The President’s message was a beacon of hope and determination, assuring the nation and the world that neither time nor occupation can erase Ukrainian identity and aspirations.
