The legal implications against Harvey Moeis and his associates, accused of corruption in the management of timah commodities under the license of PT Timah, are subject to the provisions of law. However, given the gravity of the corruption, which has resulted in significant financial losses for the nation, a strong deterrent is necessary to curtail such offenses in the future.
President Prabowo Subianto, during a national development planning coordination meeting, emphasized the severity of the crime and the need for harsh penalties for those found guilty of siphoning off hundreds of trillions of rupiah from state funds. Speaking on the matter, the President suggested a maximum imprisonment of 50 years for the perpetrators, stating that leniency would undermine public trust in justice and the ongoing reform efforts.
