State Government Urges Residents to Get Vaccinated Against Influenza, COVID-19, and Pneumonia Ahead of Winter Season 2024-2025
Article:
In a continuing effort to shield residents from respiratory ailments during the upcoming winter season of 2024-2025, the State Government is pressing ahead with a comprehensive vaccination campaign against influenza, COVID-19, and pneumonia. With the support of various healthcare institutions, this concerted drive has already managed to administer over 62% of the 789,455 planned doses, and will stay active until March 28, 2025.
Leading this initiative, Esmeralda Vanegas Santana, the head of the Vaccination Department at the State Health Services, highlighted that to date, more than 494,000 influenza vaccinations have been administered statewide. Simultaneously, campaigns for COVID-19 and pneumonia 13v vaccinations are also ongoing, all under the directive of Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona.
Influenza is a viral infection that targets the respiratory system, and getting vaccinated is crucial to minimize the risk of severe complications, hospitalizations, and even fatalities. The vaccination priority is given to children between six months and four years, adults aged 60 and above, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and individuals between five and 59 years old with chronic lung or heart diseases, uncontrolled diabetes, severe obesity, kidney failure, cancer, or HIV.
Symptoms of influenza include fever, muscle aches, headache, persistent coughing, nasal congestion, chills, fatigue, and sometimes, vomiting and diarrhea in children. Vaccines are available at State Health Service centers, IMSS Bienestar, ISSSTE, Petróleos Mexicanos, and Sedena facilities, completely free of charge. Authorities strongly recommend that residents take advantage of these vaccination points to protect themselves and prevent infections.
The Government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its residents is evident in these proactive measures to combat seasonal respiratory diseases. It is now up to each individual to do their part by getting vaccinated and helping to create a safer, healthier community.
