Presidential Perspectives: Prabowo Shares Family Background Reflective of Pancasila Values

In a heartwarming speech, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto shared insights into his family background, highlighting values reminiscent of Pancasila, the state philosophy that unites Indonesia’s diversity.

Delivering his address at the National Christmas Celebration 2024, held at Jakarta’s Indonesia Arena on Saturday, December 28, the President began by acknowledging Christmas as an integral part of Indonesia’s multicultural tapestry.

"Christmas is part of our lives, reflecting our diverse identity as a nation," Prabowo said, emphasizing unity in diversity, a key aspect of Pancasila. "Indonesia is one nation, one desire, one dream, living in harmony as one big family, striving for a better life here and a brighter future ahead."

The President revealed his understanding of Christmas traditions, noting that his mother, Dora Marie Sigar, is a Christian. He fondly recalled family gatherings during the holidays, describing it as a testament to Pancasila values.

"Despite differing beliefs, my parents never argued about religion," Prabowo reminisced, Adding, "If they did, they resolved their differences successfully – a fact proven by their son becoming Indonesia’s President."

Prabowo praised Indonesia for its resilience in maintaining unity amidst diversity, attributing this strength to the nation’s ability to coexist peacefully.

"Indonesia shines because we live harmoniously despite our differences," he said, nodding to the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) principle. "This unity in diversity is our nation’s greatest asset."

Expressing his gratitude, Prabowo thanked the event organizers and everyone involved for their hard work in ensuring the successful, peaceful, and joyous celebration of Christmas 2024.

"I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this year’s Christmas celebration a resounding success, bringing us together in harmony and love," he concluded.
