Jeff Bezos Publicly Denies Luxury Wedding Rumors: "None of This is Happening"
Article:
In a rare public statement, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has dismissed rumors swirling around social media and British tabloids about an elaborate, multi-million dollar wedding between him and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez. Bezos took to X to set the record straight, stating, "The entire thing is completely made up – none of this is happening."
Just a couple of days prior, the Daily Mail published a story alleging that Bezos and Sanchez were planning to tie the knot in Aspen, Colorado on December 28. The sourced report claimed the event would cost a staggering $600 million, equivalent to nearly seven billion Norwegian Kroner at current exchange rates.
Bezos, the world’s second-richest man according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, is estimated to have a net worth of $244 billion. Despite his vast fortune, the e-commerce Mogul took the opportunity to caution about the spread of misinformation, noting, "The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ has never been more true. Misinformation can travel the world before truth can get its boots on."
The Bezos team has also clarified that no wedding is scheduled for Christmas Eve in space, according to an updated version of the Daily Mail’s article.
While some have speculated about the upcoming nuptials, billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman was skeptical of the circulating rumors. "You can’t spend that much money unless you buy a house for each guest," he quipped on X.
Even Tesla CEO and the wealthiest person globally, Elon Musk, weighed in on the matter. "I hope your wedding is epic. It’s always nice to know epic events are happening somewhere in the world, even if you’re not there," Musk wrote on X.
