Headline: New Year’s Dinner Prices Soar: Up to 500 BGN in Sofia‘s Top Establishments
The price for a 6-7-course menu on New Year’s Eve in Sofia’s restaurants ranges from 500 BGN, business news site dir.bg reports. According to industry representatives, the cost depends on the menu and the guest performer for the evening.
The Association of Restaurant Owners commented that the price range varies depending on the establishment’s price category. "The price range is between 100-120 to 250-300 BGN, there are also options for 500 BGN, depending on what’s included. If there’s a quality performer – expensive performer, rich musical program, then it’s justified," said Atanas Dimitrov, deputy chairman of the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, in an interview with bgnair.bg.
While some customers find these prices excessive, others consider them normal. "With friends in a restaurant, but not at these prices, with entertainments and karaoke. After all, we also rely on friendly support," said one customer, Maria.
However, other customers, like Georgi, argue that the price is reasonable, considering the current inflation rate. "It depends, it could be a luxurious restaurant. Already, 500 BGN is nothing with this inflation," he said.
Reservations for New Year’s Eve have been ongoing since October. "Our capacity is satisfactory full. We will have a program, performers, 7-course menu, including alcohol. Our price is 180 BGN," said Anna Karakacheva, manager of a popular establishment.
In addition to the high prices, this New Year’s Eve will see increased police presence and inspections in establishments across the country.
