Article:

In a remarkable feat, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has shattered its own record, welcoming a staggering 49.1 million passengers in 2024. This impressive figure marks a 14% increase from the previous year, solidifying the airport’s status as the busiest it has ever been in Saudi Arabia’s aviation history.

The year-end surge in passenger numbers was particularly notable, with December 31, 2024, emerging as the airport’s most bustling day ever. On this day alone, a whopping 174,600 passengers passed through the airport’s terminals. Unsurprisingly, December was also the busiest month, reflecting the peak travel season.

In total, the airport handled 47 million passengers throughout the year, representing an 11% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is further underscored by the 47.1 million pieces of luggage processed, a 21% increase, demonstrating the airport’s enhanced operational efficiency.

The record-breaking passenger numbers not only reflect the growing demand for air travel but also bode well for the airport’s future. As Saudi Arabia continues to open up to tourism and business, King Abdulaziz International Airport is well-positioned to capitalize on this growth and maintain its status as a major global aviation hub.
