The health authorities in Uco Valley have rolled out an essential initiative to safeguard the well-being of newborns. Vaccines against the syncytial respiratory virus (RSV) are now available, free of cost, for expectant mothers. This vital measure aims to prevent severe respiratory illnesses like bronchiolitis and pneumonia in babies during their first six months of life.
Available for mothers between 32 and 36 weeks of pregnancy, this vaccine offers a crucial layer of protection for infants who are most vulnerable to RSV infections. With the aim of vaccinating as many expectant mothers as possible, the health authorities are ensuring accessibility by providing the vaccine at multiple locations across the region.
Paulo González Trigo, Coordinator of Health for Uco Valley, emphasized the significance of the vaccination drive. Speaking to El Cuco Digital, he stated, "These vaccines are of utmost importance. All expectant mothers should get vaccinated to shield their newborns from potentially life-threatening diseases."
He further clarified that the vaccine is available at the Scaravelli and Tagarelli hospitals, the General Las Heras hospital, the Vaccination Center on Francisco Delgado street, and all 40 health centers spread throughout the Uco Valley. Notably, the vaccination process is entirely free and does not require a medical prescription.
