Riga Music Week Concludes
Four hundred music industry professionals gathered in Riga as the second annual Riga Music Week concluded its events across the city, according to nra.lv.
Some vibrant cultural accents for the beginning of November are recommended by Anete Ašmane-Vilsone, a jury member for the “Kilograms kultūras” annual award and a culture journalist, as reported by LSM.
The festival and conference program spanned more than a week of creative sessions, professional networking, and live performances. Events began in late October with the “Crescendo” international musician residence in the Skanstes City quarter. That was followed from November 1 to 3 by the “RigaLive” songwriting camp organized by Music Latvia, as reported by nra.lv.
Tallinas Ielas Kvartāls Concerts
The program continued on November 4 and 5 with a music industry conference and concerts featuring more than 50 domestic and foreign artists in the Tallinas ielas kvartāls, nra.lv reported. Festival founder Agnese Cimuška-Rekke stated that the event united creators, industry distributors, and international export facilitators in one place.
“Second Riga Music Week year we have taken an important step for Riga to strengthen its place on the European music map,” Cimuška-Rekke noted, according to nra.lv. Outdoor stages in the quarter allowed passersby to follow the performances free of charge.
Six Stages Hosted Various Genres and Artists
The six stages in the Tallinas ielas kvartāls hosted a wide range of genres and artists, LSM reported. The lineup included performances by groups such as “Stūrī zēvele”, “Lupa”, “Daba”, “Rikši”, “Pacific K”, “Vilkači”, and “Elpo”, alongside various solo musicians.
Multiple organizations contributed to the program, including “Summer Sound”, “I Love You Records”, “Bobe”, “Sofar Sounds Riga”, “Still Figure”, “Every Little Thing”, “Lauska”, “All Folked Up”, “TVNet”, and the “Riga Music Week” team, nra.lv reported. Technical support was provided by “Kompānija NA”, “Rock Distribution” hosted a music technology exhibition called “Music Tech Expo”, and the Baltic young jazz artists competition was organized by the Latvian Music Information Centre.
More November Cultural Highlights
Additional cultural events are featured across November, including premieres recommended by Santa magazine editor Ieva Jātniece, such as the production “Neuzticīgie” directed by Inga Ungure based on the work of Ingmar Bergman at the New Riga Theatre starting on November 20. An exhibition titled “Novērst skatienu. Mākslinieces Zuzānu kolekcijā: 2000–2026” is on display at the Zuzeum art museum until January 17, gathering works by more than 40 female artists created in the first two decades of the 21st century.
The monomusical "Viena" starring young artist Vaida Vovere—who began her path at the Riga Dome Choir School and continues at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn—was staged at the Eduards Smiļģis Theatre Museum on November 2 and 3, exploring the breaking of rose-colored glasses and the loss of dreams.
Viewers can also look forward to screen performances from actors representing various Latvian theaters, including Marija Linarte, Matīss Budovskis, Elīna Vāne, and Gints Grāvelis.
