RTX 5070 Surpasses All Others on Steam as 32GB RAM Demand Soars

Steam has published its September Steam Hardware Survey, showing that the GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card and 32GB system memory configurations have both captured first place in their respective categories. Participation in the monthly survey remains optional and anonymous, according to Steam data.

GeForce RTX 5070 Claims First Place

The GeForce RTX 5070 now accounts for 5.86% of surveyed systems, climbing 2.30 percentage points from 3.56% in August. That movement pushes it ahead of every other individually listed GPU on the platform.

Other Nvidia hardware also saw significant gains during the month. The RTX 5060 Ti rose to 3.87% after a 1.46-point increase, while the RTX 5060 reached 4.20% following a 1.22-point gain. Combined entries for the RTX 5050, 5060, 5060 Ti, 5070, 5070 Ti, 5080, and 5090 reached an 18.21% total share, up from roughly 12.93% in August. No AMD or Intel graphics cards appear anywhere in the top ten list.

32GB RAM Overhauls 16GB Configurations

System memory configurations experienced a major shift at the top of the table. PCs equipped with 32GB of RAM jumped from 37.45% to 42.22% in a single month, marking a 4.77-point increase.

At the same time, 16GB systems dropped from 41.20% to 37.82%. That decline leaves 32GB comfortably ahead as the most common RAM setup for September. Resolution data shifted alongside memory, as 2560×1440 displays increased from 21.86% to 27.04% for a 5.18-point gain. Full HD at 1920×1080 dropped from 50.52% to 47.91%, keeping it the most common primary resolution while falling below half of surveyed systems.

AMD Gains Ground on Intel in Windows CPUs

AMD captured additional market share in Steam’s Windows CPU statistics for September. AMD processors increased from 45.52% to 47.41%, while Intel processors fell from 54.47% to 52.59%.

The gap between the two processor manufacturers now stands at just 5.18 percentage points. The monthly metrics track shifting hardware adoption rates across the Steam user base.
