Title: Desperate Rescue Mission in Romanian Mountains: Three Ukrainians Seek Aid After Days Lost
In a harrowing rescue mission unfolding in the rugged mountains of Maramureș, Romania, three Ukrainian nationals are clinging to survival in one of the most challenging regions of the Carpathians. The trio, who have been missing for several days, reached out to emergency services late on the evening of December 24, desperation echoing in their voices.
The Maramureș Mountain Rescue Service disclosed that the Ukrainian citizens are believed to be in one of the most treacherous zones of the massif. Exhausted and hypothermic due to prolonged exposure to harsh conditions and lack of food, their plight echoes a similar incident two years ago when seven other Ukrainians sought help in the same area.
A swift response team, bolstered by border police and two additional rescue units, has been deployed to locate the missing individuals. The operation is proving to be challenging, with both weather conditions and the complex terrain posing significant obstacles—echoing the complexities of the rescue mission undertaken two years ago.
This latest rescue mission is not an isolated incident in the Maramureș region. Earlier this month, rescue services managed to save 28-year-old Ukrainian national Vladislav Dudu, who had been attempting to evade a mobilization call, accompanied by his pet cat, Persik.
The search for the missing Ukrainians continues, with the hopes of a successful rescue growing with each passing hour.
