Ukrainian forces repel Russian attacks on the Harьkov front; civilian areas hit
The Ukrainian General Staff reported late on December 24th that Russian forces launched an attack near the border, in the village of Vysokaia Yaruga, north of Kharkiv. The village lies between Goptovka and Gлубокое, on the opposite side of the Travyans’ke Reservoir from Gлубокое.
The General Staff stated that enemy units attacked Ukrainian positions four times in the Volchansk and Vysokaia Yaruga areas on the Kharkiv direction. This comes as the Russian army conducted 19 attacks within the past 24 hours on the Kup’iansk direction, striking areas around Petropavlovka, Kolesnikovka, Zahrіzovo, and Lozova.
shelling and mine fire hit civilian populations in Vozrozhdenivske, Tiмофеєвка, Olexandrivka, and Ponomarenky. Earlier reports from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicated that Russia was stepping up its activities along the border north of Kharkiv.
The situation remains tense as both sides adjust their strategies ahead of potential new offensives in the New Year. Meanwhile, civilians caught in the conflict continue to face the brunt of the violence, with critical infrastructure and residential areas coming under fire.
