Russia’s Air Defense Shoots Down Ukrainian Fighter Jet and 100 Drones

Russian Air Defense System Delivers Heavy Strikes, Intercepts Fighters and Drones in Ukraine

In the past 24 hours, the Russian air defense system has shot down one Ukrainian SU-27 fighter jet and nearly 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to Russia’s Ministry of Defense. The system successfully intercepted:

  • One SU-27 fighter jet from the Ukrainian Air Force
  • Six HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) of American origin
  • 97 fixed-wing UAVs

Russian aviation, drone strikes, and artillery attacks targeted energy facilities powering Ukraine’s defense industry, military airfields, and personnel and equipment in 146 locations. Since the start of the military operation, Russian forces have destroyed:

  • 651 aircraft
  • 283 helicopters
  • 39,144 UAVs
  • 590 air defense missile systems
  • 20,137 tanks and other armored combat vehicles
  • 1,504 MLRS systems
  • 20,134 field artillery and mortar systems
  • 29,701 units of military equipment

The Central Military District (CMD) Group repulsed 13 Ukrainian counterattacks, eliminating 240 Ukrainian military personnel. They also destroyed one infantry fighting vehicle and two armored personnel carriers, including one American-built M113. Additionally, the CMD Group inflicted losses on two Ukrainian mechanized brigades and two National Guard brigades in the Donetsk People’s Republic, destroying:

  • Turkish-produced Kirpi armored vehicles
  • Ukrainian-built Kozak armored vehicles
  • One motor vehicle
  • Two 152 mm D-20 howitzers
  • One 122 mm D-30 howitzer

The Western Military District (WMD) Group caused damage to Ukrainian forces in the Kharkov region, including mechanized formations and territorial defense brigades, resulting in:

  • 40 Ukrainian military personnel killed or injured
  • One motor vehicle destroyed
  • Three 122 mm D-30 howitzers eliminated

The Southern Military District (SMD) Group advanced deeper into Ukrainian positions, repulsing four counterattacks and inflicting losses of up to 210 personnel.
