A bus carrying an estimated 60-70 passengers has crashed off the E10 highway in Hadsel, Nordland, Norway, partially sinking into the sea. The accident occurred on Thursday, December 26, at around 2 PM.

Redningsleder Ørjan Delbekk from the Joint Rescue Control Center North Norway reported that the bus had left the road and ended up in the water. Emergency services are on the scene, including helicopters from Tromsø and Bodø. The emergency department at Nordland Hospital has been put on alert.

"The bus is partially submerged in water. It’s unclear about the number of casualties, and search and rescue operations are ongoing," Delbekk said.

Sten-Håvard Johannessen, duty officer for the Hadsel Fire & Rescue Service, confirmed the incident. "It’s a serious road accident involving a bus. It happened in the Myrland area, and both police, ambulance, and volunteers are on their way," he said.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Police have asked the public not to share images or videos from the scene to respect the privacy of those involved.
