Man in His 20s Seriously Injured in Knife Attack in Oslo‘s Gamlebyen

A man in his 20s has been severely injured after being stabbed with a knife in Oslo’s Gamlebyen neighborhood. The incident occurred outdoors in a park, and the victim received immediate medical attention at the scene, according to police.

"Police are searching for at least one suspect involved in the incident," said operations leader Rune Hekkelstrand to NRK. The knife used in the attack has not yet been recovered, police’s on-scene leader Steinar Bjerke confirmed.

In an update published at 17:41, police stated that they have multiple hypotheses in the case. One of these hypotheses suggests that the suspect may have been acquainted with the victim.

The police are actively searching for the suspect, with police helicopters and a multitude of patrol vehicles involved in the pursuit. Eye-witnesses have described the suspect as a man aged between 20 and 30, of Arabic origin, and approximately 170 to 180 cm tall. He was reportedly wearing a blue jacket and cargo pants, with a beard and short curly hair. Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

"We appreciate the increased number of calls we’ve received from the public and are following up on any leads to help apprehend the suspect as soon as possible," police said.

The police operations leader confirmed that they are also assessing other potential avenues of evidence, such as CCTV footage and witness testimonies.
