HONG KONG SET FOR COLD SNAP: CHINA METEOROLOGICAL ADMINISTRATION ISSUES COLD WARNING
Brace yourself, Hong Kong! The cold weather is set to intensify as the cold warning, issued by the China Meteorological Administration, takes effect. According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the minimum temperature in urban areas is expected to dip to a chilly 12°C by Friday morning.
This cold snap, dubbed "December Storm," is due to bring temperatures as low as 8°C in some areas, with the northern parts of Hong Kong likely to feel the sting more acutely. The Observatory has advised residents to dress warmly and take precautions to prevent cold-related health issues.
But wait, there’s more to this icy tale. The cold front is expected to bring increased cloud cover in the early hours, followed by a gradual clearing later in the day. The mercury is forecast to peak at a mild 21°C, making for a rather pleasant day, despite the early morning chill.
The Observatory has also chimed in, warning the public about the potential for slippery roads and reduced visibility due to the dense fog expected in higher areas, such as the New Territories and the Peak. So, drive safe and keep an eye on the weather updates.
While the cold snap might have you reaching for the thermals, there’s no need to panic. The warning is only in effect until Sunday. So, wrap up warm, enjoy the crisp winter weather, and look forward to the return of the sunshine.
