Farmhouse in Assen Engulfed in Flames; Residents Safely Evacuated
A thatched-roof farmhouse in Assen, Fire in Beerta”>Groningen, was consumed by a fierce blaze on Thursday evening, with flames shooting meters into the sky. The intense fire prompted a ‘major incident’ response from the local fire department.
The fire broke out at the farmhouse located in the Witterhaar area of Assen. The Groningen Safety Region sheltered nearby residents while firefighters from Assen, Smilde, Beilen, and Vries battled to tame the inferno.
Ido Rittersma, the duty officer from the regional fire department, reported that the homeowners were present when the fire started. They safely evacuated the premises. "Unfortunately, one person was injured," said Rittersma. "They were promptly checked by paramedics."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
