Major Fire Engulfs Tire Storage Facility in Bergen op Zoom; No Injuries Reported
A significant fire broke out Wednesday evening at Petlas Tire Service, located in a business complex on Kruisakkers in Bergen op Zoom. The blaze was deemed a major incident, prompting an extensive response from the fire department to combat the spreading flames.
The tire storage facility is situated within a larger compound housing various businesses, including Carglass and Toolstation. Firefighters, who arrived in large numbers, battled to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building. A spokesperson for the fire department revealed, "The tire storage is located within a business complex. We’re currently attempting to halt the fire’s progression to ensure it doesn’t spread to the remainder of the premises."
Heavy Smoke Gefixtures Safety Measures
The abundance of smoke generated by the fire has caused concern for neighboring areas. The safety region has advised residents in the vicinity to keep windows and doors closed due to the potential risk of hazardous substances. Measurements are being taken in the affected area to assess any potential dangers.
At the height of the incident, around ten fire engines were present at the scene. The primary strategy was to attack the fire from above using a high-reach appliance. The spokesperson added, "We’re presently focusing on extinguishing the fire from above, utilizing a high reach."
Fire Erupts Around 8:30 PM; Cause Unknown
The fire was reported around 20:30 yesterday. Miraculously, no injuries have been reported thus far. The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this time.
The event has drawn a substantial crowd of onlookers, leading the fire department to deploy traffic controllers to manage the traffic situation. The spokesperson concluded, "Due to the large number of people gathering to watch the fire, we’ve had to dispatch some traffic controllers to assist with traffic management."
