President Claudia Sheinbaum Urges Opposition Parties to Practice Self-Critique

Mexico City — In her morning press conference, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo advised opposition parties, including the National Action Party (PAN), Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), andCitizen’s Movement (MC), to engage in self-reflection. She suggested that these parties must question why they are no longer the choice of the Mexican people at the ballot box. The president emphasized that understanding the reasons behind their lack of success in the 2024 elections and their minimal impact in Congress is crucial.

"Instead of inventing excuses, why don’t they sit down and conduct a self-critique? Because they attribute their poor results to their lack of representation in the Congress of the Union," President Sheinbaum said.

Criticizing Claudio X. González, one of the key masterminds behind the opposition alliance and a primary leader, the president recalled that new political parties are set to emerge soon. She suggested that González’s influence over these new parties and his continued puppeteering of PRIAN could lead to more failures.

"why don’t they start a self-critique process? Because with that kind of leadership, they’re doomed," President Sheinbaum commented, choosing not to name names.

As the new year begins, the president extended an invitation to opposition parties, asking them to put aside their hatred and consider why the Mexican people have turned away from them.

"Why doesn’t the Mexican people vote for them? Instead of inventing excuses and spreading hatred, it’s a new year," President Sheinbaum emphasized.

With the Mexico’s political landscape seemingly shifting, the president’s call for introspection might spark a crucial reevaluation within the opposition, shaping their strategies as the country gears up for future elections.
