The 30-year-old Dutch midfielder moved from Liverpool to Saint-Germain last summer, who made him a higher financial offer than Barcelona.
Wijnaldum said in a press conference, Monday, that he “did not imagine his exclusion from the starting line-up for Paris Saint-Germain.”
“I can’t say I’m completely happy because the situation is not what I want, but that’s football,” he added, ahead of the Netherlands’ match with Gibraltar.
He added, “I am a fighter. I have to stay positive and work hard to change the situation. I will have to learn how to deal with it. I have played a lot in recent years and have always been fit.”
Wijnaldum, who sometimes plays as a late striker, added: “I really wanted to take that step (leaving Liverpool) and then this happened (sitting back up). It’s very difficult.”
