Milano: Dashcam and Audio Recordings Emerge in Ramy Elgaml’s Fatal Chase Inquiry
Milano, Italy – Shocking dashcam footage and audio recordings have surfaced from the fatal high-speed chase involving a 19-year-old Egyptian man, Ramy Elgaml, which took place late last year in Milan. The grueling 20-minute pursuit, captured on the dashcam of a nearby carabinieri squad car, has now been made public by Tg3 and La7, offering grim insights into the tragic events that unfolded.
Fares Bouzidi, a 22-year-old Tunisian man who was fleeing on a TMax scooter at high speeds, subsequently lost control of his vehicle, fatally crashing at the intersection of Via Ripamonti and Via Quaranta. Bouzidi, along with the carabinieri vice-brigadier who was driving the pursuing vehicle that ultimately ended up off the road, have been formally charged with vehicular homicide.
The dashcam footage begins at the initial point of contact, in Via Moscova near Lovanio, where the carabinieri vehicle collides with Bouzidi’s scooter. As Bouzidi manages to regain control and speeds off, one of the carabinieri can be heard saying, "Fuck… he didn’t fall."
The chase continues, with the TMax weaving through the streets of Milan at high speeds, running red lights and driving against traffic. At some points, the carabinieri are overheard discussing their pursuit strategy, with one carabinieri stating, "Shut him down, shut him down, shut him down… no, he hasn’t fallen."
As the pursuit enters its final stages, the scooter approaches the fateful intersection at Via Ripamonti and Via Quaranta, where the tragedic collision occurs. The dashcam captures only the final moments, showing the TMax ahead and the carabinieri’s Giulietta sedan trailing close behind.
While the exact cause of the collision remains unclear, the dashcam footage does not rule out the possibility that the two vehicles may have made contact prior to the final impact. Sadly, Elgaml’s life was lost in this tragic series of events.
