The unusually heavy security has been ramped up amid the ongoing Middle East war and concerns about retaliatory strikes by Iran. While no specific threats against the Oscars have been made, Governor Gavin Newsom stated last week that the state has been working with local law enforcement and emergency services to ensure information is transmitted to keep communities safe.
The Los Angeles Police Department has established a roughly one-mile security perimeter around the Dolby Theatre, utilizing uniformed officers, security cameras, K-9 units, and surveillance drones.
Attendees and viewers can expect musical performances inspired by the films “Sinners” and “KPop Demon Hunters.” Reunions are also planned, including a potential appearance by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor ahead of the 25th anniversary of “Moulin Rouge.”
