raining torrentially in Tromsø, two tourists found themselves in a perilous situation as one got stuck in the snow. The police were alerted around 8 pm, with both Norwegian Red Cross and Norwegian Rescue Dogs called in to assist in the rescue operation.*
The tourists are located in the area northeast of Fjellheisen in Tromsø, where there is a high risk of snow avalanches, according to operation leader Robin Åsheim Lindberg of the Troms police district.
"Mannskapene har ennå ikke kommet fram," Lindberg said in a statement to NTB. "They are taking the Fjellheisen up and will hike down to the tourists."
While the rescue teams make their way to the stranded tourist, the public is urged to stay clear of the area due to the dangerous conditions.
