Breaking: Drammen Station Closed Due to Runaway Train Incident
Drammen station is currently closed to rail traffic following a runaway train incident, the Norwegian railway operator Vy has confirmed. The incident occurred when a train bound for Skien derailed with three wheels near Drammen station, impacting a points switch.
Ayr-Cristoffer Lundeby, Communications Chief for Vy, stated that the train was traveling at a low speed at the time of the derailment, and no injuries have been reported. The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Bane Nor, the national rail infrastructure manager, has advised that it may take considerable time to restore operations at Drammen station. Vy has implemented bus replacement services for train passengers, who are urged to anticipate delays and potential changes to their travel plans.
