ITOGON, Benguet – A new solar power and connectivity system was formally turned over to Domolpos Community School in Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet on December 17, 2025. The project, a collaboration between SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc. (SNAP-Benguet) and the Aboitiz Foundation, aims to provide reliable electricity and digital access to the school’s 16 students.
Bringing Power and Access to a Remote Community
The turnover ceremony was led by SNAP President and CEO Joseph Yu and Barangay Tinongdan Chairperson Edwin Atumpag. Attendees included Jowelle Ann R. Cruz of the Aboitiz Foundation, Arvin R. Doman of the Department of Education Benguet Division, school principal Philip Fowaya, as well as parents and students.
The system installed at Domolpos Community School includes a 6kWp solar power system, battery storage, and internet connectivity. This infrastructure is intended to support daily school operations and provide students with access to digital learning tools. The project is part of AuroraPH, a larger initiative by the Aboitiz Foundation focused on providing renewable energy, connectivity, and digital education to schools in geographically isolated areas.
Expanding Beyond the School
The benefits extend beyond the classroom. Twenty-two solar-powered streetlights were also provided to the community, enhancing visibility and safety for students, teachers, and residents. SNAP-Benguet implemented the project, while the Aboitiz Foundation supplied the internet hardware and service. A gift-giving activity for the students was also held, supported by donations from an employee-led volunteer program.
AuroraPH is currently expanding across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, building partnerships with government agencies, local communities, and technology providers to create lasting infrastructure for education and digital inclusion.
