Heavy Snowfall and Road Closures Cause Disruption Across South-eastern Norway
A forceful gust of wind on the E18’s eastbound on-ramp at Brønningsmyr in Lillesand on Monday morning caused a driver to lose control of their vehicle, which subsequently exited the road into a ditch. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.
Meteorologists have issued an orange alert for heavy snowfall in parts of South and Eastern Norway until Tuesday morning. Accumulation of up to 40 centimeters is expected within the next 24 hours, with localized areas receiving up to 50 to 60 centimeters, including eastern Agder.
The heavy snow has already caused power outages in the region. As of 7:30 AM, over 500 households were without power. Glitre Nett spokesperson May Britt Risbruna stated that tree limbs falling on power lines in Birkeland and around Bjelland Church are the primary causes of the outages.
Meteorologist Terje Alsvik Walløe warned that conditions throughout Monday would be challenging, with the possibility of disrupted travel and road closures.
Firefighters and officials are urging residents to stay prepared andensure they have the necessary supplies on hand.
Heavy Snowfall Causes Power Outages; Schools Closed in Hordaland
The snowfall is also affecting operations in Hordaland. The Norwegian Railway Authority (NRA) has reduced train services on the Bergen Line due to the significant snow accumulation and strong winds expected.
Innstillinger Trafikksentralen has alerted residents that several buses will run on delayed schedules and in some cases not at all due to treacherous driving conditions. The situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided via their website.
In Bamble, tree limbs have fallen on power lines, causing widespread power outages. The local power company is working diligently to restore power as quickly as possible.

Road Closure on E16 in Hordaland Due to Snow
A section of the E16 in Hordaland has been temporarily closed due to snow accumulation. The NRA encourages drivers to use alternative routes, particularly the E39 between Bergen and Stavanger.

In North Trøndelag, several roads remain closed due to heavy snow and strong winds. The storm has also caused tree limbs and power lines to fall, resulting in widespread power outages.
The police urge drivers to exercise caution and stay informed about closed roads and restricted access areas.
