Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Datamine Leaks Cloud Strife and Tifa

A datamine of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds‘ Version 2.0.0 update files, shared on X by VocaloidMikuBr, names Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart as playable racers in the Final Fantasy VII crossover pack. It lists six more potential additions — including a “Marisa,” Movie Sonic and Sega’s Akira Yuki. SEGA has not confirmed any of them.

SEGA released the game’s Year Two update, Version 2.0.0, on November 3, 2026, kicking off the racer’s second year of content. The datamine surfaced after that release. Power Up Gaming reported that screenshots shared by VocaloidMikuBr show Cloud and Tifa each assigned to the same content pack, with a separate driver ID for both.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched on September 25, 2025, across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Sonic Team developed it and SEGA published it. The title earned generally favorable reviews on Metacritic. It holds a 4.57 average rating on the PlayStation Store based on more than 10,000 reviews.

The Version 2.0.0 update went live on November 3, 2026. It introduced Duel Mode, which pits two racers head-to-head online or offline with a Duel Boost gauge that fills over time and through item use. The update also added the Super Slot, a seventh gadget slot that amplifies the effect of compatible one-slot gadgets, plus 15 new Gadgets available once players reach Grand Master Plate or higher. Bayonetta joined as the first free Year Two character, unlockable through offline Rival Duel matches against CPU opponents. Sonic Global Community Director Aaron Webber had previously outlined that the rollout would include new additions, changes, and improvements.

Alongside the free update, the Godzilla Pack arrived as the first paid Year Two DLC, featuring the Godzilla Escape course and vehicles inspired by Godzilla, King Ghidorah and Mothra, along with themed music and sounds. The Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition also includes the Sega Consoles Pack. That pack brings three vehicles inspired by Sega’s historic hardware. The team recreated the Dreamcast’s Visual Memory Unit using original reference material from the era, translating rounded forms into fenders and nose sections while angular lines became body panels and hoods.

On the PlayStation Store, the Standard Edition costs $39.99. Both the Digital Deluxe Edition and Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition are priced at $59.99 each. Season Pass Two is also available, with six premium DLC packs and eight free updates planned throughout Year Two.

The update expanded World Match with Legend Competition, Ranked Match and Free Match options under an upgraded main menu. It extended all new Festivals to 10 days instead of 3. It also introduced Play Missions and a Shop where players can purchase Jukebox Tracks, Auras, Horns, Decals, Characters and Titles. Competitive balance adjustments included faster Ring respawns in online races and improved recovery for Acceleration Type Machines. Specific gadget changes saw the Ring Engine’s Time Trial top speed bonus reduced from 3 km/h to 2 km/h, though the bonus remains unchanged at 3 km/h when equipped in the Super Slot.

Free character updates scheduled beyond Bayonetta include McLaren Racing (Sonic) later in November 2026 and Aigis from Persona in early 2027. The update also introduced Mod Gadgets with larger stat bonuses than existing Tuner Gadgets, plus new Charge Gadgets. It fixed an issue where Power Type Machines had a higher maximum speed bonus cap than other machines.

Other adjustments include Best-of-10 Competitions marked as coming soon, two-player Duel support, and a fix so that Machines no longer decelerate when hitting speed-reducing obstacles while Boosting from a Dash Panel or Dash Gate. The update also added crowns such as the Gold Crown for players with a 5+ win streak and the Blue Crown for the Godzilla Festival’s top Rule Points earner. Returning Festival Gadgets are purchasable with Donpa Tickets for those at Master Plate or higher.

Cloud and Tifa Fill the Midgar Pack’s Slots

SEGA has already announced a Final Fantasy VII Remake crossover for the game. The provisionally titled Midgar Pack is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027. Its playable characters were absent from the publisher’s Year Two roadmap. According to Power Up Gaming, the datamine now points to Cloud and Tifa filling those spots. NintendoEverything noted that the pair are among the most popular Final Fantasy VII characters, though some fans might have expected Sephiroth over Tifa.

Driver IDs Separate DLC Names From Free Unlocks

The entries differ in how complete they appear. Cloud, Tifa and Marisa have assigned driver IDs. Movie Sonic, Will, Sakura Shinguji and Akira Yuki currently show “None” in that field, according to Power Up Gaming. The screenshots do not provide release dates for any of the names.

SEGA’s Year Two Roadmap Already Dates Some Content

SEGA’s confirmed second-year lineup includes crossover packs with Evangelion, Sanrio and Persona alongside the Final Fantasy VII collaboration, GoNintendo noted. The newly spotted names remain unannounced, but as Power Up Gaming put it, the files suggest SEGA has more crossover racers planned beyond those it has shown so far. Among the confirmed free additions, Aigis is scheduled for early 2027, Bayonetta arrived with the November 3 update, and a McLaren-inspired machine is planned for later in November, Nintendo Life reported.
