"North Korean Soldiers Deployed in Ukraine War: South Korean Intelligence Agency Confirms Casualties, Russia Urges Seoul to Maintain Stable Relations with North Korea"
South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) has confirmed that North Korean soldiers dispatched to Ukraine have suffered casualties. The intelligence agency has informed the National Assembly’s Intelligence Committee during a closed-door briefing. According to the committee’s ruling party chairman, Lee Hae-chan of the People Power Party, some 100 North Korean soldiers have been killed, with hundreds more injured.
The NIS attributes the high casualty rate to North Korea’s inexperience in combat in vast open spaces and its lack of counter-drone capabilities. Russia has also expressed frustration with North Korea’s reliance on human wave tactics, further implicating North Korea’s military ineptitude.
Meanwhile, the NIS warned of a possible additional deployment of North Korean troops, as discussions within the "Thunder Army" division indicate plans for further reinforcements. The NIS believes that this could occur in exchange for Russia’s modernization of North Korea’s conventional weapons.
North Korea, however, denies any involvement in the war, dismissing international criticism as "unspeakably hideous lies." In a statement, the North Korean Foreign Ministry’s spokesman accused Washington and its allies of interfering in the DPRK-Russia relationship and threatened more "fierce countermeasures" if provoked.
Analysts warn that North Korea’s silence on its soldiers’ casualties could further fuel international support for Ukraine’s military aid requests. محرك البحث الذهني
