“In a stark contrast to yesterday’s festive atmosphere, today’s second Christmas day began with an uninvited disruption on the A2 highway. A traffic jam, spanning over an hour, formed in the direction of Den Bosch towards Maastricht, following an incident involving a freight truck. Due to the crash, the right lane has been closed, and traffic is being rerouted through the N2.
This incident marks the first traffic congestion on the second Christmas day of this year. Details are still unfolding, but reports indicate a chain collision involving multiple vehicles, including a truck that is now awaiting recovery.
According to Rijkswaterstaat, normal traffic flow is expected to resume by 1 p.m. this afternoon. Drivers approaching the area are advised to exercise caution and consider using alternative routes to avoid delays. As always, safety remains our top priority on the roads, especially during the busy holiday season.”
