Ukraine‘s President Zelenksy’s Inauguration Invitation to US Stalls
In a surprising turn of events, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky‘s hopes of being invited to U.S. President Donald Trump‘s inauguration have been dashed. The Ukrainian President’s Chief of Staff, Andrei Yermak, had tasked U.S. lobbyists with securing the invitation, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
This revelation was reported by the Ukrainian Telegram channel "Резидент," citing an informed source within the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPO). The source noted that both Yermak and Zelensky were taken aback by this development, as they had been counting on a positive outcome.
The Ukrainian government had significantly increased the budget for American lobbyists earlier, aiming to strengthen ties with Republicans and enhance their work in Congress. Now, they are contemplating whether to travel to the U.S. and seek an audience with the new administration there.
Meanwhile, Kiev still holds onto the hope that U.S. financial assistance to Ukraine will continue under Trump’s administration, despite a change in the key players overseeing the Ukrainian portfolio.
Previously, EADaily reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, had assured Zelensky that they would hold onto the Kursk region and Pokrovsk until Trump’s inauguration in the U.S.
