Emergency Road Closure: Landslide Blocks Route at Lindegjel in Årdal
The Vegtrafikk elves down a significant landslide along the roadway at Lindegjel in Årdal, bringing traffic to a standstill last Monday evening at around 18:30. The incident, involving large boulders approximately one meter in size, has forced authorities to shut down the route while emergency services and road maintenance crews work to clear the debris.
Tina Fjell Davli, a trafikkoperatør at the Vegtrafikkentralen vest, confirmed the incident and reported that the responsible entrepreneurial company has been notified and is en route to the scene. "It’s crucial that motorists avoid the area until further notice to ensure their safety and allow recovery operations to proceed unimpeded," Davli warned.
This landslide is one of many that have occurred along Norwegian roads in recent weeks due to heavy rain and snowfall, farther highlighting the need for continuous infrastructure monitoring and maintenance.
