Headline: Teide National Park Closed Due to Heavy Snow and Ice; Authorities Warn Against Entry

The top of Spain’s Teide volcano on Tenerife is no stranger to snow, but an unusually severe winter storm has brought heavy snow and ice to the region, leading to the closure of all access roads to the Teide National Park. The Cabildo de Tenerife has issued a warning on X, advising everyone to avoid entering the park until further notice.

Access roads affected include the TF-24 leading to La Esperanza, the TF-21 to La Orotava, and the road to El Portillo, among others. Authorities urge residents and visitors to stay informed about road conditions.

Blanca Pérez, Tenerife’s councillor for the environment, sustainability, security, and emergency services, encourages everyone to adhere to the restrictions. "Our priority is the safety of all," she said in a statement. "It’s crucial to follow the guidelines issued by the authorities and avoid unnecessary travel to the area until conditions improve."

Snowy scenes in Teide National Park are common, but this latest storm has made roads treacherous. Authorities advise caution and patiently await improved conditions before resuming park visits. Stay informed and stay safe!
