Saint-Jérôme, Qc – An investigation is underway following a suspected arson at the former Desjardin’s automated service center in Saint-Jérôme. The fire, which broke out late last night, has left the building completely destroyed.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 11:30 PM and worked tirelessly throughout the night to contain the blaze. Despite their efforts, the building was deemed a total loss. No injuries were reported.

Authorities are treating the fire as suspicious, given the apparent lack of electrical or other natural causes. The scene will undergo a thorough inspection to determine the exact origin and cause of the fire.

"This is a significant loss for our community," said Mayor Denis Martin. "Not only did this building serve as a vital service center, but it was also a historic landmark in Saint-Jérôme."

The investigation is being led by the Saint-Jérôme Police Service, with support from the Quebec Provincial Police and the Office of the Fire Marshal. Anyone with information regarding the fire is encouraged to contact the police.
