Breaking News: Ukraine‘s "Ukrenergo" Revokes Power Outage Schedules in Several Western Provinces
Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn, Zakarpattia, and Odesa regions spared from earlier announced cuts
In a significant turn of events, Ukraine’s state operator of the power system, "Ukrenergo," has decided to rescind earlier announced power outage schedules in several western regions. This decision, made on December 27, affects the following provinces:
- Lviv Oblast: Residents and businesses in the region can breathe a sigh of relief as the scheduled power cuts have been officially canceled. Lvivoblnenergo, the regional energy provider, confirmed the news on their Telegram channel.
-
Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast: Power cuts in this region have also been called off. Prładkarpat.jpa, the regional energy provider, announced the changes on their official Telegram channel, stating, "Attention! Changes in power supply schedules for today until further notice."
-
Volyn Oblast: The National Energy Company of Ukraine (NEC) "Ukrenergo" reduced the volume of restrictions in the Volyn region, effectively rescinding the scheduled blackouts for all queued consumers from 08:00 onwards. This decision was confirmed by Volynoblnenergo in a statement on their official website.
-
Zakarpattia Oblast: Residents in this region are no longer facing the earlier announced power cuts.
- Odesa Oblast: The southern coastal region has also been spared the earlier announced power outages.

Earlier today, "Ukrenergo" had announced that power outages would be in effect on December 27 due to damage inflicted on energy infrastructure during a Russian attack on December 25. However, they assured that these cuts would be minimal and duration-based rather than shutting off power entirely.
For residential consumers, power cuts were scheduled from 08:00 to 17:00, while industries and businesses were to face power restrictions in the same duration. "Ukrenergo" attributed these temporary power outages to the havoc wreaked by Russian strikes on energy facilities.
They initially warned that timings and volumes of restrictions might change throughout the day. However, the decision to cancel these power cuts in several western Ukrainian provinces comes as a welcome reprieve.
As the situation stands, residents and businesses in the affected regions can expect normal electricity supply, at least for now. However, they are advised to remain vigilant and prepared for any potential updates or changes to power supply schedules.
This is a developing story. Keep checking back for updates.
