According to Marlina, Agus has not yet received the donation, which has been accumulating in a foundation for some time.

"We strongly reject this donation handover. If legally, the money is not Agus’ right, he is fine with it. But if it is his right, he will not give up his claim on the worldly life," Marlina said at Alvin Lim’s funeral home in Grand Heaven, Pluit, North Jakarta, on Monday (6/1/2025).

Agus Salim also expressed his disappointment with the plan. "I’m disappointed. Initially, it was agreed that the money would be given to me, but now suddenly it’s going to be redirected to Lewotobi," said Agus.

Headline: Indonesian Philanthropist Diverts Ailing Man’s Donations to Disaster Victims, Sparking Outcry

In a unexpected turn of events, Java-based philanthropist Pratiwi Noviyanthi (Novi), along with other key figures like Jerry Julian and Denny Sumargo, has decided to redirect donations originally intended for Agus Salim’s eye surgery to assist victims of the recent volcanic eruption in Lewotobi, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). However, this decision has been met with strong opposition from Agus Salim’s lawyer, Farhat Abbas.

The decision, revealed on Denny Sumargo’s YouTube channel, aims to provide immediate relief to those affected by the disaster. "We plan to take the donations there (to Lewotobi), exactly," confirmed Jerry Julian.

However, Farhat Abbas has labeled this move as a "flight from responsibility" and an attempt to manipulate public opinion. According to him, the funds are solely the property of Agus Salim and should not have been redirected without his consent. Abbas also accused Novi of acting unilaterally and without consideration for the consequences of her actions.

Abbas further crucified the decision as a ploy to shift attention from the core issue, stating that the initial donations were meant to be used for Agus Salim’s medical expenses, not for disaster relief. He expressed his confusion and disappointment about the situation, feeling that Novi’s actions were not respectful or honoring to the Minister of Social Affairs.

Meanwhile, Novi and her team have not yet responded publicly to Abbas’ allegations. The situation remains complex, with the focus potentially shifting from Agus Salim’s medical needs to the grave consequences of natural disasters in Indonesia.

This sudden change in the use of donations has sparked a national conversation about responsibility, transparency, and the legitimate use of charitable funds. As more details emerge, we will continue to monitor and report on this developing story.

Agus Salim’s Donation of IDR 1.3 Billion Redirects to Disaster Victims

Kisruh terkait uang donasi korban penyiraman air keras, Agus Salim, finally reached a resolution. The Rp 1.3 billion donation was redirected to help victims of natural disasters in Lewotobi, NTT.

YouTuber Pratiwi Noviyanthi, also known as Teh Novi, and her partner, Gerry, agreed to channel the donation to the disaster-stricken area. Denny Sumargo, better known as Densu, supported the decision.

"Ini [-channeling donasi ke korban bencana] yang harus dilakukan," said Densu in an interview on his YouTube channel.

Gerry explained that the victims in Lewotobi are more in need of the donation. "They [victims] have already been surveyed by the foundation, and I’ve also been there. The condition is still dire, far from the capital," he added.

Densu confirmed that all the donation money will be given to the victims. "Yes, we’ll bring all of it there [to Lewotobi]," he said.

To ensure the donation was used properly, Densu contacted Pablo Benua, the lawyer for the donors, and sought his permission to redirect the donation. Pablo agreed to the decision.

"If the donation is redirected to other beneficiaries, we, the lawyers and donors, originally wanted that. So, this is good news," Pablo stated.

Agus Salim, who initially received the donation, did not object to the decision. He understood that the donation should be used for those in greater need.

"NTT Disaster Relief: Agus Salim’s Philanthropic Journey Concludes, Rp1.3 Billion Distributed"

by Chief Editor January 5, 2025
written by Chief Editor

Title: Resolution Reached: Agus Salim Donation Funds Now Headed to NTT Disaster Victims

After a lengthy dispute, the controversy surrounding the donation funds for Agus Salim has finally reached a resolution. The Rp1.3 billion donation will now be allocated to assist victims of natural disasters in Lewotobi, Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).

The agreement was sealed with the presence of Denny Sumargo and Pratiwi Noviyanthi, the organizers of the fundraiser, Garry Julian as the head of Rumah Peduli Kemanusiaan Foundation, and Pablo Benua, the attorney representing the donors. Denny Sumargo confirmed this in a podcast on his YouTube channel.

Initially, the funds were intended for Agus Salim’s eye treatment, but as he never visited the hospital for the procedure, the funds were redirected to other social welfare activities. However, the parties involved have now agreed to redirect these funds towards disaster relief efforts in NTT, reflecting their commitment to helping those in urgent need.

"I am relieved that the responsibility is finally off my shoulders," said Novi, one of the organizers, accepting the decision to redirect the funds.

Pablo Benua, the lawyer representing the donors, was also pleased with the outcome. "We are all in agreement that the funds should be allocated to those who need it most. We support the decision to redirect the funds to disaster victims in NTT," he said. He also declared that the legal action against the foundation would be withdrawn in light of this agreement.

The resolution of this controversy is a positive outcome, with the funds now set to reach those most in need. The agreement demonstrates the importance of accountability and transparency in managing public funds. (tdy)

Donation Money for Agus Salim Funds Directed to Disaster Victims; Farhat Abbas: No Disregard for Other Beneficiaries

by Chief Editor January 5, 2025
written by Chief Editor

Title: Legal Representative Denounces Donation Controversy; Sides with Minister

Article:

In a surprising turn of events, the legal counsel for Agus Salim, Farhat Abbas, has labeled the handover of a Rp 1.3 billion donation to Lewotobi Laki-laki volcanic eruption victims by Pratiwi Noviyanthi and the Yayasan Rumah Peduli Kemanusiaan (RPK) as an affront to the efforts of Social Affairs Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf to resolve the dispute. Farhat believes that this action demonstrates a lack of respect towards the minister’s attempts at mediation.

Farhat revealed that Minister Yusuf had put forth considerable effort to reconcile the differences between Agus Salim and Noviyanthi Pratiwi. However, this was complicated when Noviyanthi and RPK diverted the Rp 1.3 billion, intended for Agus Salim’s medical treatment, to the disaster-struck region in Nusa Tenggara Timur.

“I find it unacceptable,” Farhat stated in an interview with Intens Investigasi on their YouTube channel. “It’s clear that there’s no respect shown to Minister Yusuf’s efforts. It’s like they’re acting on their own whims. I stand with the Minister and the government on this. I can’t comprehend how this could have happened.”

Initially, the matter was purely about voluntary contributions, not formal donations, Farhat explained. He argued that unlike donations, which follow official regulations, the fundraising for Agus Salim’s treatment should be considered a voluntary contribution or alms.

Farhat also raised an intriguing issue regarding the account used to receive the funds. If the money went into a Yayasan RPK account, then transferring it to another party would be legally sound. However, if it went into Agus Salim’s personal account, it could constitute a different set of challenges.

“No one dares to use Agus’ money, not even in front of Minister Yusuf,” Farhat asserted.

Previously, Noviyanthi Pratiwi had attempted to end the controversy by transferring the funds to the disaster victims. This move, she believed, fulfilled her responsibility towards Agus Salim. She cited Agus’ lack of commitment to follow RPK’s procedures for using the donation, particularly in relation to his eye treatment at a reputable hospital.

“From the beginning, we’ve been nothing but accommodating, offering to deposit the funds into the hospital for his use,” Noviyanthi explained. “But he never showed up, and eventually, we were accused of wrongdoing.”
