Crane Loaded with Coke: How €1.2 Billion in Drugs Was Discovered

by Chief Editor December 27, 2024
written by Chief Editor

In an astonishing drug bust that captured headlines last summer, authorities seized a staggering one thousand kilos of cocaine, valued at hundreds of millions of euros. The giant drug haul was discovered in an unexpected place – a Brazilian telescopic crane – in Moerdijk, Netherlands. The operation, led by the specialized Coastal Team of the Dutch police, resulted in the arrest of three individuals: the crane’s 64-year-old company owner, a 43-year-old man from Westmaas near Barendrecht, and a 32-year-old Cambodian national.

The three suspects stood trial for the first time recently, but the bigger question remains: how did this massive cocaine shipment end up in Brabant? What led the police to target this trio? And why did the Cambodian student pose with selfies alongside the notorious crane?

To unravel these mysteries and more, tune into the latest episode of حسابാമ साधन “Criminal Explained” season 2.

Drunk Driver Tours Streets with Stabbed ‘Bob’

Belgian Driver Arrested After Neighbors Find Him Bloodied and Drunk, Hours After Stabbing in Brussels

In a bizarre turn of events, Dutch police pulled over a Belgian driver on the A16 motorway near Prinsenbeek early Friday morning, only to discover a gruesome scene inside his car.

The inconspicuous-looking vehicle had been weaving recklessly but it was the bloodstains on the passenger door that really caught the officers’ attention. A closer inspection revealed an astonishing sequence of events.

The driver, a 29-year-old Belgian man, was found to be intoxicated behind the wheel. But what made this situation so notorious was the state of his passenger—a man identified only by his nickname, ‘Bob.’ Bob was slumped on the seat beside the driver, injuries consistent with having been stabbed.

It remains unclear exactly what transpired in Brussels prior to the incident, but there was a considerable blood trail to suggest a violent confrontation. Paramedics had already tended to Bob’s wounds, providing a partial explanation for the disturbing scene inside the car.

Matters only worsened for the driver when police found a counterfeit driver’s license and €8,100 in cash inside the car. Subsequent investigation confirmed he was driving under the influence and had been harboring stolen goods.

The man was promptly arrested and the police tweet announcing the incident left his intended holiday destination in ruins, replacing it with a new one: "His vacation plans have been updated for the Mijkenbroek detention center in Breda."

The strange turn of events has left the public bewildered and curious, talking about little else other than the precariousness of coming across a bloody, intoxicated criminal on the way to a supposedly relaxing vacation.

Fourth Explosion at Roofing Company in One Month

Title: ‘Dakdekkersoorlog‘ in Den Bosch Erupts Again: Fourth Arson Attack on Roofer’s Bus

another incident in the ongoing "dakdekkersoorlog" in ‘s-Hertogenbosch has left a roofer‘s delivery van completely burned out. This is the fourth time in recent months that this specific roofer has been targeted, highlighting the escalating conflict between rival roofing companies in the city.

Residents in the Leyhof area witnessed the incident around 10:30 PM on Tuesday evening, with CCTV footage capturing the moment when an object was hurled towards the stationary bus. Almost instantly, a fire broke out, devouring the vehicle. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that an incendiary device, such as a Molotov cocktail, was responsible for the blaze.

The charred remains of the bus wereEvidence of the attack at the Leyhof address, where three previous incidents had occurred in recent months. On 21 February, a company vehicle went up in flames, while on 24 and 27 August, explosions were reported—although the extent of the damage is not clear.

Despite the alarming frequency of these incidents, the ‘dakdekkersoorlog’ shows no signs of abating. Since July, over 20 explosions and arson attacks have targeted vehicles and properties belonging to rival roofing firms in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The total cost of these acts of violence has reached an estimated €1.5 million so far.

In a secret report obtained by Omroep Brabant, multiple potential solutions to address the roofing conflict were outlined. However, experts stress that the situation is far from resolved, with the complex and opaque nature of the problem making it challenging to find a lasting solution.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to Omroep Brabant for updates on the ‘dakdekkersoorlog’ in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

"Stalling Detention: Four Suspects Held 90 More Days in wheat Mill Explosion Case"

Breaking News: Suspects in Deadly Hague Blasts Remanded for 90 More Days

In a significant development, four suspects from Roosendaal, Oosterhout, and Rotterdam have been remanded in custody for an additional 90 days over the devastating explosions at Den Haag‘s Tarwekamp. This decision was made on Tuesday by the chamber of the Rechtbank in Den Haag.

The men, aged 23, 29, 33 (two of them), are believed to be behind the arson and explosions that claimed six lives and injured several others. The blasts caused multiple residential buildings above a bridal shop to collapse.

Among the suspects, Moshtag B., a 33-year-old Rotterdammer and alleged ex-partner of the bridal shop owner who was potentially the target, is believed to have orchestrated the attack. According to De Telegraaf, B. used an intermediary or ‘fixer’ to arrange the strike. This individual is reportedly suspect Adil from Oosterhout, who then allegedly hired the two Roosendaal men to carry out the explosions.

Six Lives Lost
The explosions on Tarwekamp occurred on Saturday, December 7th, around 6:15 AM. Many buildings collapsed, and others were severely damaged. The victims’ ages ranged from 17 to 63 years old.

Earlier Arrests in Oosterhout
Two of the suspects from Roosendal were arrested in Oosterhou before the Hague blasts. On December 1st, they were found in a delivery van late at night on a parking lot, in possession of 14 jerrycans filled with an unknown substance, heavy fireworks, torches, a fire extinguisher, and extra clothing—signs they were potentially preparing for the attack.

Omroep Brabant later linked these arrests to the explosions in Den Haag. The Public Prosecution Service has since confirmed that the two suspects are indeed the same individuals.

Mob of Retail Thieves Cruise Country, Steal Thousands in Euros

Shuethless Dangers: Organized Retail Theft Across the Netherlands

In an alarming trend, a gang of retail thieves has been sweeping across the Netherlands, making off with thousands of euros worth of goods, predominantly from drugstore chain Kruidvat. The Brabant police have released recognisable CCTV footage in a bid to apprehend the clever culprits, who struck as recently as late November in Sint Willebrord.

The trio, comprising a woman and two men who might initially seem unconnected, employs a stealthy and coordinated approach. Each enters the store independently, armed with a shopping basket, filling it with high-value items. In a deceptive move, they initially stash the goods in toilet bags, reportedly concealing them elsewhere before transferring the loot into a backpack for their getaway. Brazenly, they’ve been known to return for another round of plundering.

CCTV footage from Gelderland’s Twello and Deventer reveals the gang’s cunning tactics. One of the men uses a store-bought tent to shield his activities from the camera’s gaze while stuffing his backpack. When the alarm sounds upon his exit, he’s already vanished, leaving surprised staff to ponder the empty shelves.

Deventer’s latest heist resulted in a €3,000 loss for the store. Police suspect the gang operates in various constellations, striking systematically across the country. Anyone recognising these individuals is urged to contact authorities.

As businesses and consumers brace themselves for the holiday shopping season, this brazen series of thefts serves as a stark reminder of the organised crime plaguing the retail sector. The Netherlands’s law enforcement agencies are roses, detailing shopkeepers to remain vigilant and customers to report any suspicious activity.

"Porterm.lang podría pasar 9 años en prisión por allanamiento de moradas"

(Translated: "Bernardo Lang could spend 9 years in prison for home break-ins")

Headline: "From Globe-Trotting Soccer Freeloader to Convict: Bernio Jordan Enzo Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison"

In a dramatic turn of events, Bernio Jordan Enzo V., the infamous ‘spookvoetballer’ who had ping-ponged between soccer clubs in multiple countries, has been sentenced to nine years in prison. The 30-year-old was found guilty by the Breda district court for his role in two home invasions and one attempted robbery.

Bernio’s rise and fall were as swift as his jet-setting soccer career. In 2019, he managed to secure contracts with four professional clubs across four different nations, only to vanish without playing a single game. His modus operandi? Posing as a promising player, he’d lure clubs into signing him, then disappear with promises of future stardom.

His antics took him to Moldavia, South Africa, Chile, and Denmark, where he was ultimately incarcerated on fraud charges. But Bernio’s criminal exploits stretching beyond the soccer field had already begun.

In late 2020 and early 2021, Bernio was involved in two home invasions in Lieshout and Tilburg, along with an attempted robbery. Victims were tied up, robbed of bank cards, ID, and cash, while Bernio’s accomplices wielded axes, knives, and pistols.

Enzo was eventually arrested in Colombia in June 2021, following a trail of unpaid bills, and extradited to the Netherlands late last year. His trial concluded two weeks ago, with a judge rejecting his defense’s attempts to pin the blame on his co-conspirators.

The court determined that Bernio’s involvement in all three ‘serious offenses’ could be proven and harshly condemned his choice of targeting vulnerable victims in their own homes. While the prosecution had sought an 11-year sentence, the court ultimately handed down a 9-year prison term, with nearly 3.5 years of Enzo’s pre-trial detention counting towards his sentence.

Enzo has also been ordered to pay €2,000 in compensation to each of the two victims.
