Belgian Driver Arrested After Neighbors Find Him Bloodied and Drunk, Hours After Stabbing in Brussels

In a bizarre turn of events, Dutch police pulled over a Belgian driver on the A16 motorway near Prinsenbeek early Friday morning, only to discover a gruesome scene inside his car.

The inconspicuous-looking vehicle had been weaving recklessly but it was the bloodstains on the passenger door that really caught the officers’ attention. A closer inspection revealed an astonishing sequence of events.

The driver, a 29-year-old Belgian man, was found to be intoxicated behind the wheel. But what made this situation so notorious was the state of his passenger—a man identified only by his nickname, ‘Bob.’ Bob was slumped on the seat beside the driver, injuries consistent with having been stabbed.

It remains unclear exactly what transpired in Brussels prior to the incident, but there was a considerable blood trail to suggest a violent confrontation. Paramedics had already tended to Bob’s wounds, providing a partial explanation for the disturbing scene inside the car.

Matters only worsened for the driver when police found a counterfeit driver’s license and €8,100 in cash inside the car. Subsequent investigation confirmed he was driving under the influence and had been harboring stolen goods.

The man was promptly arrested and the police tweet announcing the incident left his intended holiday destination in ruins, replacing it with a new one: "His vacation plans have been updated for the Mijkenbroek detention center in Breda."

The strange turn of events has left the public bewildered and curious, talking about little else other than the precariousness of coming across a bloody, intoxicated criminal on the way to a supposedly relaxing vacation.
