Arrest Made in Brutal Highway Carjacking: Man Caught for Stabbings on Congested Toll Road

Article:

In a dramatic turn of events, Jakarta police have apprehended a man named M Ali Sanda (MAS), allegedly involved in a brazen carjacking incident that targeted a couple on the accessibility toll road of Tanjung Priok, Jakarta Utara. MAS is believed to have played a pivotal role in threatening the victims with a sharp weapon.

"Our team has successfully apprehended one suspect, identified as MAS, who threatened the victims with a sharp object," said Kanit Jatanras of the Metro Jakarta Utara Police, AKP Lukman, in an interview on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

The heinous crime unfolded on Friday, January 3, in the evening, when traffic was heavily congested at the scene. MAS, along with five other accomplices, carried out the daring robbery.

MAS, authorities revealed, has a history of criminal behavior, being a repeat offender particularly in cases of stealing with violence, or ‘curas’.

"In our initial investigation, we found out that MAS is a recidivist, previously arrested by Kelapa Gading Police for a similar crime," AKP Lukman disclosed.

Currently, police are hot on the heels of the remaining five suspects who collaborated with MAS in this operation. Their modus operandi includes frequently targeting vehicles near the Plumpang Toll Road.

Operating When Traffic is Stalled

The mastermind behind the operation indicated that the group often targeted vehicles on Jakarta’s toll roads, specifically when traffic was heavy. Before carrying out their crimes, the gang would gather at a designated point near the location.

"They gather around before the incident, waiting for a suitable moment when traffic is heavily congested. Upon identifying an opportunity, they approach vehicles with open windows," AKP Lukman revealed to journalists.

The gang used sharp weapons, called ‘celurit’, to intimidate drivers and passengers into surrendering their valuables.

"Once they have identified an ideal target, they swiftly approach, armed with their weapons, and demand the handover of the victims’ belongings," he added.

So far, two vehicles have been reported as victims of the robberies. On Friday, a couple was targeted by the armed gang in the midst of the heavy congestion.

"The group encircled the couple’s car and attempted to assault the wife through the passenger side," reported Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Chief of the Metropolitan Jaya Police Public Relations Bureau.

In a separate incident, a lone driver was also targeted by the gang as he was exiting the toll road. The thief demanded money from the driver, snatched his bag, and además inflicted injuries to his back before fleeing the scene.

This capture brings some relief for Jakarta’s road users, but police caution that the hunt for the remaining suspects is ongoing. They urge everyone to stay alert and remain safe while navigating the city’s toll roads.

Headline: Brutal Daylight Robbery on Jakut Toll Road: Police Hunt Down Six Perpetrators

Subheading: A well-coordinated gang of robbers targets couples stuck in traffic on the busy Jakarta road, leaving two vehicles looted and one man injured.

Article:

In a shocking daylight heist, a group of six robbers targeted couples stuck in traffic on the Jakarta Toll Road, specifically targeting the North Jakarta area, also known as Jakut. The police have since arrested one suspect, M Ali Sanda, and are hunting down his five accomplices.

The scheme, unearthed by Jakarta Metro Police, was meticulously planned with the robbers congregating around Tollway Access Point (TAP) Plumpang before making their move. Speaking to reporters, the Head of Jakarta Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Fauzan Yonnandi, illustrates the gang’s strategy: "They would gather around the target area and wait for traffic to build up. Once they spotted a vehicle with open windows, they’d pounce."

Equipped with deadly celurit knives, the robbers threatened their victims and made off with stolen goods from at least two vehicles. On Friday evening (3/1), a couple was ambushed while stuck in traffic. The robbers initially targeted the man but quickly turned their attention to his wife when she tried to shield him.

In the second incident, another unsuspecting driver was targeted moments before exiting the toll road. He was relieved of a sum of money after being threatened at knifepoint.

The arrested suspect, M Ali Sanda, is reportedly the mastermind behind the operation, wielding the knife during the attacks. Police are now on the hunt for his five associates: Aji, Anggi, Tedi, Amat (also known as Acong), and Cipuy.

Kompolres Metro Jakarta Utara’s chief, AKBP Ahmad Fuady, confirmed the arrest and expressed resolve in capturing the remaining suspects: "We’ve apprehended the main culprit, Ali Sanda, who carried the knife. We’re still in pursuit of the other five suspects."

The incidents have been reported to North Jakarta Metro Police. Further investigations are ongoing.

FBI: ISIS Supporter Identified as New Orleans NYE Tragedy Perpetrator

In a shocking turn of events, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has revealed that the driver responsible for the devastating New Year’s Eve tragedy in New Orleans, attack-suspect” title=”Who was Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the New Orleans truck attack …”>Shamsud-Din Jabbar, is a supporter of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The FBI confirmed that Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. Army veteran, acted alone in the horrific incident.

Christopher Raia, an assistant director with the FBI, disclosed during a press conference that Jabbar traveled from Houston to New Orleans on New Year’s Eve and had uploaded videos onto social media platforms, expressing his support for ISIS. In one of the videos, Jabbar admitted to planning attacks against his own family and friends, fearing that targeting civilians would not generate enough media attention.

"[Jabbar] originally planned to target his family and friends," Raia said. "But he was worried that the mainstream media wouldn’t focus on the ‘fight between the believers and the non-believers.’"

Jabbar rental truck plowed into a crowd celebrating New Year’s Eve in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter, killing at least 15 people and injuring scores more. The FBI maintains that Jabbar acted unilaterally in the attack.

"We currently don’t assess that there’s any other individual involved in this attack other than Shamsud-Din Jabbar," Raia stated.

Bournemouth Shocked by Random Slayings: Criminology Student Guilty

Bournemouth, England – In an unsettling turn of events, a University of Bournemouth criminology student, Nasen Saadi, was found guilty of committing a seemingly motiveless murder that has left the coastal town of Bournemouth stunned. The 20-year-old, originally from Croydon, was convicted at Winchester Crown Court following a nine-day trial.

Saadi was deemed guilty of fatally stabbing Amie Gray, 34, and attempting to murder Leanne Miles, 38, at Durley Chine Beach on the evening of May 24, 2022. Both women were randomly targeted while enjoying what should have been a peaceful beach evening.

Prosecutor Benjamin May, from the Crown Prosecution Service Wessex, described the attack as "a senseless and brutal assault on two innocent women," adding that "the community of Bournemouth has been left shocked and appalled by this crime."

Saadi meticulously planned the attack, even conducting surveillance on potential victims beforehand. His goal, as stated by the prosecution, appeared to be a macabre desire to experience taking a life.

"I am hoping that the people of Bournemouth can now find some closure and that Saadi’s actions will not be remembered, only his punishment," said May following the verdict.

The jury took approximately five hours and 36 minutes of deliberations to reach a unanimous guilty verdict, finding Saadi guilty of murder and attempted murder.

Sentencing Saadi, Judge Cutts described the crimes as "heinous" before imposing a life sentence with a minimum term of imprisonment that justice demanded was "considerable."

In a statement read outside the court on behalf of Sian Gray, Amie’s widow, Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins of Dorset Police described Amie as a "beautiful and much-loved woman" whose life was cruelly cut short.

"Amie touched the lives of many people, and her strength lives on in us all," Jenkins-read statement concluded.

Both victims were attacked while sitting on the beach, enjoying a warm summer evening. CCTV footage presented to the court showed Saadi approaching them from behind, fatally stabbing Gray and leaving Miles for dead before fleeing the scene.

Miles, who survived the attack with 20 stab wounds, primarily to her back, said in a statement read in court, "Every time I close my eyes, I see Amie lying on the beach dying. I still can’t get the image out of my mind."

In the wake of this tragic event, the small seaside town of Bournemouth continues to grapple with the senseless violence that took away one of its residents and forever changed another. The stark reminder that random acts of violence can occur even in the most idyllic settings serves as a somber reflection for us all.
