"Ukraine Accuses Its Own Citizen of War Crimes"

Title: Russia Foils Ukrainian assassination Attempt Using Power Bank Bomb

In a compelling turn of events, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) claims to have thwarted an attempted assassination of high-ranking Russian officials by Ukrainian intelligence (SBU). The FSB alleges that the SBU employed a sophisticated approach, using a power bank rigged with a bomb for the deadly plot.

Reuters reports that the FSB revealed this thwarted assassination attempt on Thursday, December 26, 2024. According to the FSB, the bomb was concealed within a power bank and a document folder.

This incident follows the recent assassination of Lt. Gen. Kirillov, the chief of Russia’s nuclear, biological, and chemical protection forces. Kirillov was killed using a bomb planted on an electric scooter parked outside his residence. The SBU confirmed to Reuters that they were behind the killing, which Russia has dubbed an act of terrorism.

The FSB asserts that it has prevented a series of assassination attempts on military officials in the Security Ministry. Four Russian citizens involved in the attack have been apprehended.

In a chilling revelation, FSB announced that one suspect was arrested while trying to attach a magnetic bomb, disguised as a power bank, to a car belonging to a Defense Ministry official. Another suspect was caught casing a senior Defense Ministry official, planning to use a bomb concealed in a document folder for the murder.

While the FSB did not reveal the planned date of the attacks, one arrested suspect mentioned December 23, 2024, as the intended day of the assault. State-run television in Russia has aired footage of several suspects confessing to being recruited by Ukrainian intelligence.

Rhetorically, Moscow places the blame for the assassination attempts squarely on Ukraine’s shoulders, claiming Western nations are backing these terrorist acts. This comes in the wake of the August 2022 murder of Darya Dugina, daughter of a prominent Russian nationalist politician. Media reports, including The New York Times, have hinted at Ukrainian involvement in that incident as well.

Russia’s Christmas Attack on Ukraine: Zelensky Condemns Putin’s Lack of Humanity

Ukraine Under Fire: Putin’s Unhuman Act on Christmas

In an audacious display of aggression, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine on Christmas Day, with President Volodymyr Zelensky condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions as "inhuman."

The attack, which targeted critical energy infrastructure, involved at least 184 missiles and drones, according to Ukrainian military reports. As of now, no casualty figures have been confirmed.

"Today, on Christmas, Putin chose to fly missiles instead of Christmas trees. What could be more cruel?" Zelensky remarked in a statement, citing over 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and more than 100 drones deployed.

Targeting Ukraine’s energy sector, Russia’s attack aimed to disrupt power supplies. Yet, Zelensky vowed, "The cruelty of the Russian troops will not break us, and it will not destroy the Christmas mood in Ukraine."

Ukrainian forces claimed to have shot down 58 missiles and caused others to miss their targets. Christmas morning in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities began with air raid sirens at 5:30 AM local time, as reports emerged of Russia launching Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea.

While countless Ukrainians struggled with power outages, some in Kyiv resorted to spending Christmas huddled together in metro stations. A widespread power cut also affected over 500,000 residents in Kharkiv, leaving them to endure near-freezing temperatures without electricity or heating.

The brazen strike on Christmas serves as a stark reminder of the reality faced by Ukrainians since Russia’s invasion, with no sign of respite from the ongoing conflict.

Breaking: Ukraine since …”>Russia Claims Successful Strike on Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure; Ukraine Reports Downing of Dozens of Russian Aircraft and Missiles

In a Christmas Eve strike, Russia launched a significant attack on key energy facilities in Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry announced. The ministry stated that the strike involved precision-guided long-range weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles, targeting vital energy infrastructure crucial to Ukraine’s military-industrial complex. The ministry claimed full success, stating that all targeted facilities were hit.

The Ukrainian Air Force provided further details on the strike, describing it as a "barbaric" Christmas attack. Russia used air, ground, and sea-based cruise missiles, along with unmanned aerial vehicles to target energy facilities. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, they detected 184 hostile air targets. In the initial stages, Ukrainian forces reported shooting down 59 missiles and 54 unmanned aerial vehicles, totaling 113, with another 52 unmanned aerial vehicles failing to reach their targets. The strike affected multiple regions, including Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zaporizhia.

Unfortunately, the attack resulted in civilian casualties, although the exact number is yet to be confirmed.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the strike, describing it as "Christmas terror" and dismissing any possibility of a Christmas truce, as previously suggested by some. He asserted that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s response to those hoping for a holiday ceasefire was "missiles and death."

**"Trump Eyes End to Ukraine Conflict with Putin"

Trump Vows to End Ukraine Conflict, Awaits Putin Talks

President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to resolve the Ukraine crisis, awaiting negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has also expressed interest in meeting "as soon as possible." Trump shared his commitment during a speech at the AmericaFest Turning Point event, where he also outlined his intentions for his first day back in the Oval Office, prioritizing domestic issues and global security challenges.

"We have to end the war, and it’s a war that’s causing tremendous – one of the worst blemishes on humanity," Trump said, adding that the conflict has resulted in "millions and millions of people dead."

Moscow estimates Ukrainian military losses to exceed 500,000 in 2024 alone, bringing total casualties since the escalation in 2022 to over a million, according to Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov. Kyiv, however, maintains that Russian losses exceed 750,000, with both sides accusing each other of concealing true casualty figures.

Trump, once again, claimed that he could have prevented both the Ukraine conflict and the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel during his presidency. "The war wouldn’t have happened if I were president," he stated, suggesting a vastly different global security landscape.

Trump has repeatedly asserted that he could end the Ukraine conflict within "24 hours" of taking office by employing his "peace through strength" strategy. However, he has yet to provide specific details on how he plans to achieve this.

Putin has welcomed Trump’s comments on ending the conflict, stating that they "deserve attention," and signaled his willingness to engage in talks with the president-elect. "I think there will be many things to discuss if there’s an opportunity to meet with the President-elect Donald Trump," Putin said, adding that he was open to meeting whenever Trump wishes.

In a year-end press conference, Putin reaffirmed Moscow’s openness to negotiating with Kyiv without preconditions, citing the previously agreed-upon conditions in the Istanbul deal of 2022, which includes Ukraine’s status as a neutral and non-bloc country and certain limitations on foreign military deployments. He emphasized that any negotiations must take the current situation on the ground into account.

Putin Expects Many Casualties in Ukraine, Retaliation for Attack Similar to 9/11

Putin Vows Escalation in Ukraine After Drone Strike on Russian Skyscraper

MOSCOW, Russia — Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised to bring more destruction to Ukraine in retaliation for a massive drone strike targeting a skyscraper in Kazan, an incident he likened to the 9/11 attacks in the U.S.

A luxury high-rise apartment block in Kazan, around 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the Ukrainian border, was hit by one of the drones, igniting a blaze but causing no reported casualties. Video footage circulating on Russian social media showed a drone striking the glass tower and causing an explosion.

In a government meeting broadcast on TV on Sunday, Putin warned, "Whoever tries to destroy us will only provoke their own demise and regret what they have done against our country."

Putin delivered his message to local Tatarstan officials, where Kazan is located, during an online road-opening ceremony. The attack is the latest in a series of escalating air strikes that have marked the almost three-year conflict.

Ukraine has not yet commented on the large-scale drone strikes. Previously, Putin had threatened to target Kyiv’s city center with hypersonic Oreshnik ballistic missiles in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian territories.
