Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said that 0.009% of educational institutions and 0.1% of schools were closed in Russia due to the spread of coronavirus infection. He announced this at a press conference, the correspondent of RBC reports.

“The situation is calm. More than two weeks have passed since the moment general education institutions opened, and there are no serious reasons for transferring schools to distance learning. There are no outbreaks of mass diseases, ”he said.

Japan successfully tests its flying car | Global World Blog

The future the movie drew in 1982 Blade Runner It was not encouraging, but at least he did not conceive for 2019, the date on which the odyssey against the replicants took place, a pandemic. He also imagined us already cruising the cities in flying cars.

Those who are disappointed in this 2020 marked by the coronavirus can find a little relief in the announcement of the Japanese company SkyDrive. The company has released a video with the tests of a manned flying vehicle, the SD-03, in which it shows how the device transports its pilot for about four minutes in the Toyota company test field.

“We are very happy to have achieved the first manned flight of a flying car in Japan,” said the CEO of the SkyDrive company. I hope to commercialize the small aircraft in 2023. They boast that it is the smallest eVTOL (vertical take-off and landing) vehicle in the world. It measures two meters high by four meters long and another four meters wide.

To fly, it has electric motors that power four rotors, each with two propellers that rotate in the opposite direction, each with its own motor to ensure, the company points out, that safety is guaranteed during the flight. In the tests, the pilot of the flying car was assisted by a computer control system that ensured flight stability, about three meters above the ground.

The company aims to get approval to carry out more tests already outside the Toyota proving ground by the end of 2020. It also leaves for the future to know the price that the unique device will have in the market.

The Japanese bet adds to that of the Daimler company, manufacturer of Mercedes, which launched a project to fill the skies of the most congested cities with Volocopters. It is a flying taxi with capacity for two people that replaces the helicopter’s large propeller with a crown with 18 small rotors similar to those of drones and that boasts a range of 27 kilometers. The company believes that in 10 years its fleet of volcanocopters will carry 100,000 people per hour.

Also Boeing and Airbus, the aeronautical giants, and Porsche are preparing their own projects for this technology, which is still incipient and excessively expensive. In January, Uber and Hyundai announced that they were teaming up to create their 100% electric flying taxi.

UMC Utrecht is investigating the spread of corona in secondary schools

Saturday, August 8, 2020 – 12:10 PM Update: 08-08-2020 12:17

No more 1.5 meters distance

Since 1 July, pupils at school no longer have to keep a distance of 1.5 meters from each other and after the summer holidays, secondary schools and schools for secondary special education will reopen completely. Many school environments can accommodate large numbers of students in closely spaced classrooms, while ventilation is often not optimal. Although the coronavirus, like other viruses that cause respiratory infections, is mainly transmitted through coughing and sneezing, there are serious indications that this also happens via so-called aerosols: tiny drops of moisture in the air that are released when screaming, singing, talking and even breathing. .

Hotspot for virus spread

Patricia Bruijning, pediatrician epidemiologist at UMC Utrecht: ‘People who have no or no symptoms yet can also transmit the corona virus. Aerosols remain in the air much longer than the larger cough or sneeze drops and they can spread further than a meter and a half. ‘ For example, places where ventilation is poor can be a ‘hot spot’ for the spread of the virus. Young children are known to transmit the virus less easily, but this is less clear to adolescents. Patricia: ‘Secondary schools can pose a risk for the spread of COVID-19, but we do not yet know how great that risk is.’

National preparedness platform

That is why UMC Utrecht is starting an investigation into this. First, the lab will investigate how contagious aerosols can be and how these aerosols behave in the air under different ventilation conditions. Simultaneously, from a sample of twenty secondary schools, the conditions of the indoor environment (ventilation, air conditioning, heating, classroom interior, number of pupils, outside windows, etc.) will be mapped and air samples taken to monitor the presence of the virus in the school. A national preparedness platform is also being set up to enable comprehensive investigation of COVID-19 outbreaks in schools.
