An Italian man, 31, has been arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault after he allegedly kissed and harassed a 15-year-old girl on a bus and followed her to her gym. The man, who has a previous history of similar offenses involving minors, is now facing severe legal consequences.
The young victim reported the disturbing encounter to police, which led to an investigation by the Prati police commissioner’s office. According to her statement, the man approached her on a bus, complimenting her appearance before kissing her hand, checks, and hair. When she tried to call for help, he snatched her phone and dialed his own number.
The girl managed to escape the bus but was pursued to her gym by the suspect, who attempted to kiss her on the lips. Only when she sought help from her trainer inside the gym was she able to evade him. Disturbingly, the man continued to call and send messages to the girl in the days that followed.
It was later discovered that the suspect had been previously reported for similar behavior towards another young victim just a couple of months prior. Upon completion of the investigation, coordinated by the Rome prosecutor’s office, the suspect was placed under arrest and taken into custody on charges of aggravated sexual assault due to his previous conviction for the same offense.
This horrifying incident highlights the importance of raising awareness about predatory behavior and the necessity for strict penalties against such crimes. As law enforcement continues to investigate, the victim and her family must be provided with all available support to help them through this traumatic experience.
