In a Shocking Incident, Local Gang Violence Claims life of Teen in Cianjur; Two Others Injured

Cianjur, Indonesia – A brutal attack by a local motorcycle gang has left one teenager dead and two others injured. The chilling incident occurred on Wednesday night (8/1) along Jalan Suroso in the Solokpandan neighborhood of Cianjur. The victim, a 16-year-old student identified by his initials MDB, succumbed to his injuries, while two others, MGS (16) and SY (18), sustained wounds believed to be from being beaten and stabbed.

Witnesses reported that a massive chase ensued around 23:30 WIB, with the victims riding a motorcycle and gang members in pursuit. The violent confrontation ended in a collision with a roadside guardrail, ultimately causing the fatalities and injuries.

Deni, a 33-year-old eyewitness, recounted, "I saw a chase, and I initially thought it was a hit-and-run. But then I saw the victims being attacked, and it seemed like they were being stabbed. Some of the chasers had sharp weapons." When Deni tried to intervene, the gang members threatened him with their weapons, prompting him to back off.

The victims were riding together when the attack unfolded. The deceased, MDB, was in the middle, according to Deni. He expressed shock and sorrow at the incident, emphasizing that residents of Cianjur live in constant fear due to recurrent gang violence.

Inspector AKP Tono Listianto from the Cianjur Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit stated, "Initial investigations suggest the victims were chased by a group of people suspected to be involved in a motorcycle gang. Fearing for their lives, they crashed into the roadside guardrail, resulting in one fatality and two injuries."

The two surviving victims are undergoing medical treatment at the local hospital while the police continue their investigation. The presence of sharp weapons and the cause of the victims’ injuries are being scrutinized further.
