About the Asylum Seekers’ Boat
Hid behind theEuvelgunne industrial park, where the city gives way to rural landscapes, a former ferry boat temporarily accommodates approximately 140 asylum seekers. Despite its cramped conditions, this makeshift shelter has served as a vital resource since it opened in 2020, with plans to remain operational until at least March 31, 2025. This asylum seekers’ boat serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for more humane and long-term housing solutions for those seeking refuge in the Netherlands.
