Students of’,$School Media Trissino Find Temporary Sports Venue After Palestra Collapse

After a ceiling collapse rendered their palestra unusable last November, students at Vicenza’s Scuola Media Trissino have found a temporary sports venue. The students will now be able to participate in physical education classes at the Palazzetto dello Sport in via Goldoni and the atletica pesante and judo "Umberto I" facility in via Carducci.

Giovanni Selmo, the city’s assessore all’istruzione, announced the news, stating that repairs to the Trissino palestra are slated as a top priority for the upcoming 2025 edilibria scolastica. In the meantime, the decision to utilise nearby sports facilities was made after successful negotiations with their managers and a site visit with Istituto comprensivo 8’s dirigente scolastica, Catia Coccarielli, and the coordinator of physical education teachers, Katia Marini.

Selmo praised the solution, noting that it’s "very convenient" given the area’s abundance of sports facilities and the current winter weather, which makes outdoor activity challenging.

The city’s commitment to providing a safe and engaging learning environment for its students remains a top priority, with plans for the Trissino palestra’s restoration well underway.
