Badan Gizi Nasional Clarifies: National School Meal Program is Completely Free, No Hidden Costs

In a recent statement, the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional – BGN) has dispelled rumors about alleged charges for the national school meal program. The agency, through its Legal and Public Relations Bureau Chief Kombes Pol Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan, assured the public that the program is entirely free and does not impose any additional costs on parents.

"Our initiative is designed to ensure every child in Indonesia has access to balanced nutrition to support their growth and development," Kombes Pol Iwan emphasized. "There are absolutely no charges, and certainly no requirements to purchase containers."

The program, a key strategic move by Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto to enhance the nation’s human resources from an early age, is structured on principles of equity and accessibility. BGN stressed that no students should feel financially burdened or excluded.

Addressing societal concerns, Kombes Pol Iwan said, "We understand the public’s worries and wish to clarify that this program is meant to alleviate parents’ burdens, not add to them."

BGN encouraged the public to report any instances of individuals attempting to exploit the program. "Together, let’s safeguard the integrity of this program for the sake of our children and Indonesia’s future."

The free meal program, prioritized by President Prabowo, is a significant step towards bolstering Indonesia’s human resources from the get-go. BGN urges the public to watch a related video here.
