New free encyclopedia”>Bulgarian Document fee Hike: Personal Cards Now Costlier, But Minors & Elderly Get Free Options
Bulgaria’s new document pricing has come into effect, leading to an increase in the cost of Bulgarian personal identity cards. The standard order process for a personal ID card will now set you back 30 BGN, up a significant 12 BGN from the previous price. The express service has almost doubled, jumping from 36 to 60 BGN. Meanwhile, the expedited service has seen its cost increase by 60 BGN, now priced at 150 BGN.
In response to the price hike, many Bulgarian residents have cited convenience as a reason for refusing the service, as they would have to travel to Sofia to complete the process.
However, there’s relief for certain demographics. Unaccompanied minors aged 14 to 16 can obtain a free personal ID card, which will be valid for four years. Similarly, all Bulgarian residents who have turned 70 are eligible for a free ID card with no expiration date, regardless of whether they opt for the standard, express, or expedited service.
The new document pricing regulations aim to align with recent legislative amendments and improve service efficiency.
