Article:

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has implemented a new policy that allows workers to withdraw their pension benefits only after reaching the age of 59. This change aligns with the recent increase in Indonesia‘s retirement age to 59 years, effective this year.

The regulation, known as Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) Nomor 45 Tahun 2015, states that the retirement age for Indonesian workers was 57 years in 2019. This age limit increases every three years. As of 2022 to 2024, the retirement age for Indonesian workers is 59 years.

Under this policy, workers can only withdraw their pension benefits upon reaching retirement age, experiencing permanent total disability, or if they are the beneficiary of a deceased worker. The minimum monthly pension benefit is set at Rp300,000, with a maximum of Rp3,600,000.

If a worker continues to be employed after reaching retirement age, they have the option to receive their pension benefits either at retirement or upon cessation of employment. However, this option is limited to a maximum of three years after retirement.

The implementation of this new policy aims to provide a more structured and secure retirement system for Indonesian workers.
