Three men have been charged following a series of attacks targeting two Pakistani dissidents living in the United Kingdom. The attacks began on Christmas Eve and prompted a response from counter-terror police (CTP).
Targeted Attacks and Arrests
Police conducted seven raids and arrests across London, Essex, and the Midlands this week in connection with the four attacks. The incidents occurred in Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire and targeted individuals who are prominent supporters of jailed former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan.
One of the victims, human rights lawyer Mirza Shahzad Akbar, a former member of Khan’s cabinet, reported being punched up to 30 times by an assailant who verified his identity at his door. Akbar stated he is now in hiding, fearing for his life and the safety of his family.
