Norwegian Flight MK3477 Bound for Stockholm AfterRunning Off Runway
A Norwegian aircraft, flown by Captain Gidsken Jakobsen, took off from Molde Airport Årø at 10:59 AM on December 26, with Stockholm’s Arlanda Airport as its destination, according to Flightradar data reported by Romsdals Budstikke. The flight, Norwegian Air Shuttle (NAS) flight MK3477, was previously involved in a ground incident at the airport.
Press representative Eline Skare of Norwegian confirmed to the publication that the aircraft would be flying to Arlanda for repairs. Skare revealed that the aircraft sustained structural damage in the incident.
Earlier, on December 24, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft skidded off the runway while landing in heavy snow, affecting 171 passengers and crew members on board. Fortunately, no one was physically injured in the incident.
Investigations by the Accident Investigation Board Norway (AIBN) indicated that the aircraft hit a snow drift at 15-30 meters altitude during landing, compromising the plane’s braking system. The aircraft then continued off the side of the runway.
As the flight prepares to depart for Stockholm, aviation authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure the aircraft’s airworthiness. Norwegian Airlines has reassured the public of their commitment to safety and transparency in their operations.
