Barbaro explained that aortic insufficiency causes increased blood reflux into the left ventricle, leading to higher diastolic pressure and reduced cardiac output. The combination of severe aortic insufficiency and multiple comorbidities puts the patient at high risk of developing heart failure, which could be fatal. In such cases, timely surgery is the only solution to prevent complications.
Call for Action
Barbaro believes that the hospital and its responsible parties should face legal consequences for allowing such a letter to be sent to patients, potentially endangering their lives. He urges the Ministry of Health and the judiciary to investigate the incident and ensure it is not repeated.
